The programmes at EXCEL are highly practical and very performance-based. The first year is a Level 4 Certificate and the second year is a Level 5 Diploma.
These are New Zealand qualifications which were first introduced in 2018. Assessments are dominated by performances and the practical experience and skills gained are aimed at preparing graduates for moving on into the industry. Our tutors are specialists who are also practicing industry professionals who bring a wealth of experience and expertise. The second year which is limited to 30 places has a touring component where the Level 5 students go out on the road for several weeks at a time and perform in different venues and stay together in various venues like camps and maraes. The mix of Dance, Drama and Music students creates a powerful performing arts whanau atmosphere.
